Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Caelora: Story Tracker (“the App,” “we,” “our”). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to create a Caelora account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement. Adults may create and manage child profiles within the App on behalf of minors in their household; the adult account holder is responsible for all activity under their account, including activity by child profiles they create.
2. Your Account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
- Notify us immediately at info@caelora.app if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
- You may not create accounts by automated means or for purposes of abuse.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose — tracking your personal reading. You agree not to:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App.
- Use the App to send spam, conduct fraud, or distribute harmful content.
- Interfere with or disrupt the App’s servers or infrastructure.
- Use automated tools to scrape, bulk-query, or abuse the App or any connected APIs.
- Impersonate another person or entity.
4. User-Generated Content
You may submit content to the App, including book ratings, mood reactions, memory notes, and metadata correction suggestions (“User Content”). You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting it, you grant us a limited license to store and use it to operate and improve the App.
You are solely responsible for your User Content. You agree not to submit content that is false, defamatory, or unlawful.
5. Subscriptions and Billing
Caelora offers an optional paid subscription (“Caelora Premium”) that provides continued access to the App after the free trial period ends.
Free Trial
New accounts receive a 14-day free trial with full access to the App. No payment method is required to start the trial. At the end of the trial, continued access requires an active paid subscription.
Plans and Pricing
Subscription plans and current prices are displayed in the App at the time of purchase. Plans auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. We may update pricing at any time; Google Play will notify you of any price change before your next renewal date, and you may cancel if you do not agree.
Auto-Renewal and Cancellation
Your subscription automatically renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. To cancel, open the Google Play Store → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Caelora → Cancel. You will retain access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Pausing
Google Play allows you to pause your subscription for a set period. Access is suspended for the duration of the pause and resumes when the pause ends or you manually resume.
Billing and Refunds
All payments are processed by Google Play. We do not have access to your payment card details. Refund requests are handled by Google Play under their standard policies; we do not issue refunds directly. You can request a refund through the Google Play Store app or at play.google.com.
6. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with services we do not control:
- Google Firebase — account authentication and data storage (Terms, Privacy Policy)
- Google Books API — book metadata retrieval (Terms of Service)
- Google Play Billing — subscription payment processing (Google Play Terms of Service, Privacy Policy)
Your use of the App is also subject to the terms of these third-party services. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services.
7. Book Metadata Accuracy
Book information in the App (titles, authors, cover art, page counts, genres) is sourced from Google Books and community contributions. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of this metadata. Caelora is a personal reading tracker — do not rely on it as an authoritative bibliographic source.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, name, and original content, is owned by Caelora and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our written permission.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer that cannot be waived under applicable law.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CAELORA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from within the App or by emailing info@caelora.app. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately and your data will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine and the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Maine, unless the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your state of residence provide otherwise. Nothing in these Terms deprives you of any protection afforded by the mandatory laws of your place of residence.
